Fitness Studio General Manager
BAM Labs (NYC)
Who We Are:
BAM Labs is a premier boutique fitness studio committed to delivering structured, results-driven strength-training experiences. We believe our job is to build the environment, coaching, and accountability that makes every client's progress inevitable. The founding team has already proven the model with three studios operating today in Madrid, Mexico City, and Torreón. This fall, BAM opens its first U.S. location in Flatiron, followed by Houston and Miami within the year. We are seeking a driven, personable, and strategically minded Fitness Studio General Manager with sales experience to lead membership growth and own the client experience that defines our brand.
Who You Are:
The Fitness Studio General Manager is a pivotal role responsible for driving new membership acquisition, deepening existing member relationships, and elevating every touchpoint of the client journey — from first inquiry to long-term loyalty. This individual serves as the connective tissue between our sales strategy and our in-studio experience, ensuring that revenue growth and member satisfaction reinforce one another rather than compete. We are looking for a goal-oriented, creative, and ambitious individual who is hungry to help our brand grow. The ideal candidate is not afraid to think outside the box and devise innovative solutions to complex challenges. While you will have clearly defined goals, you will have some ownership over how you achieve them, keeping the brand's tone and vision — which means you must be resourceful, strategic, and entrepreneurial in your approach. The best outcomes in this role come from understanding that high-quality, retention-driven sales and a premium client experience are the same job, not two different jobs.
Reporting directly to BAM's Co-Founder & CEO, this is a ground-floor opportunity in BAM's U.S. expansion.
Key Responsibilities:
Pre-Sales & Launch:
- Own end-to-end execution of the membership pre-sale campaign, including founding member offers, pricing tiers, and enrollment targets.
- Drive pre-sale conversions through direct outreach, consultations, and structured follow-up with existing clients, waitlists, and new leads.
- Track pre-sale performance daily against enrollment and revenue milestones, reporting progress to the founder and Strategy Team.
- Convert pre-sale momentum into long-term retention by ensuring every founding member is onboarded with clear expectations and an exceptional first experience.
Membership Sales & Revenue Growth:
- Execute a proactive sales strategy, developed in partnership with BAM leadership, to drive new member acquisition across all membership tiers.
- Own the full membership sales cycle — from lead generation through consultation, close, conversion, and renewal — leveraging Mindbody CRM data.
- Conduct studio tours, consultations, and structured follow-ups with prospective members.
- Drive consistent daily outreach to leads, hand-raisers, and lapsed clients via phone, email, and text, maintaining clean pipeline hygiene and accurate activity tracking.
- Identify and act on conversion opportunities within trial, drop-in, and introductory offer populations.
- Partner with the Strategy Team to set and achieve monthly and quarterly revenue targets, reporting regularly on performance, trends, and market insights.
Client Experience & Retention:
- Ensure service, hospitality, atmosphere, cleanliness, and issue resolution consistently meet the BAM Labs brand standard.
- Own standards and training: ensure SOPs are followed, front-of-house staff are trained, and execution remains consistent every day.
- Hire, schedule, and manage the front desk team, ensuring full coverage across peak hours, openings, and closings.
- Serve as the final point of escalation for client concerns, billing disputes, and incidents, resolving them quickly and with clear documentation.
- Proactively identify at-risk members using engagement data and run targeted retention and re-engagement campaigns.
- Establish feedback loops — reviews, surveys, class ratings — and turn client input into concrete operational improvements.
- Drive and grow the client referral program as a core acquisition and retention lever.
Marketing, Events & Brand:
- Lead lead-generation and local marketing plans across social, digital, and grassroots channels in collaboration with the marketing function.
- Serve as the studio's day-to-day partner to our social media agency — surfacing client results, launch moments, and event coverage, and ensuring content reflects what's actually happening on the floor.
- Plan and execute member events, milestone acknowledgments, and client engagement initiatives that celebrate individual progress and results.
- Represent BAM Labs at industry events, partner activations, open houses, and local outreach opportunities.
- Champion a welcoming, high-energy, committed studio culture that reflects the BAM Labs brand identity.
Partnerships & Loyalty Program:
- Identify, nurture, and close local B2B relationships and corporate partnerships that generate qualified leads and brand visibility.
- Manage loyalty program tier tracking, communications, and member notifications in accordance with program protocols.
- Coordinate with partner brands to fulfill member perks and benefits.
- Analyze program performance data and surface insights to leadership to inform ongoing refinement.
Studio Operations & Standards:
- Support new hire interview and hiring process.
- Own new hire and ongoing staff training.
- Own employee relations and disciplinary matters, escalate as needed.
- Ensure front desk systems and studio processes run tight: check-in, phone and email inquiries, payments, delinquent accounts, and customer care.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date knowledge of all policies, pricing, and membership options so every client receives consistent, correct information.
- Keep the studio clean, organized, and on brand at all times.
- Support smart scheduling and capacity utilization decisions that improve both member experience and studio margins.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with coaches, operations, and marketing to ensure a cohesive member experience.
- Stay current on industry trends and the local competitive landscape.
Requirements:
- 5–7 years of direct sales and/or client-facing experience, including meaningful team or people-management responsibility (ideally in fitness, hospitality, or premium lifestyle brands).
- A proven track record of hitting revenue targets (monthly revenue, retail sales, labor cost % of revenue) while maintaining high retention and client satisfaction (membership conversion and retention rates, class fill percentages, NPS/customer satisfaction, staff retention) with ownership over how you achieve them.
- Marketing fluency and comfort collaborating with external agencies and marketing partners.
- Experience using CRM systems (Mindbody CRM experience strongly preferred).
- Manage team of 10 – 30 staff members (including front desk, coaches, cleaners).
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Strong, polished communication and presentation skills across in-person, phone, and written channels.
- Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills; detail-oriented, professional, punctual, and reliable.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability — comfortable being measured on outcomes, not activity.
- Genuine passion for fitness, the BAM Labs brand, and its results-driven training experience.
Terms Of Employment:
- Full-time (minimum 40 hours per week).
- Exempt from overtime.
- NYC based.
- Mostly in-person in-studio with some outbound sales.
- Expected to work select mornings, evenings, and weekends aligned to peak studio hours and events.
Compensation:
- Base salary: $80,000 - $120,000 (dependant on qualifications).
- Commission: up to 25% (performance-based tied to KPIs, structure to be finalized).
- Paid Sick Leave.
